China's Great Wall Motors (GWM) is diversifying into high-end motorcycles with the new Souo brand. Soup stands for: "Search Own, Unlimited Outlook". The Chinese name is 灵魂 (Línghún), means 'Soul.' About the type name: Souo is the brand name.

The type name is a bit unclear at the moment. It has 'S 2000 ST' badges on the side-storage boxes. On its website, GWM calls it a 旅行车 (Lǚxíng chē), literally 'travel vehicle', a general name often used for station wagons. More on the exact naming scheme as we get it! Souo's first bike is a giant cruiser, and it is not electric. Instead, it is powered by the world's first 2000 cc flat eight (H8) engine, mated to an 8-speed DCT. The Souo S 2000 ST is huge: 2660/950/1540mm, the wheelbase is 1810mm, and the seat height is 740mm.

It looks great too, with double headlights, a wide windshield, loads of shiny chrome, big exhaust pipes, and 3 luggage boxes on the back with a total storage capacity of 118 liter. Souo says that he front design was inspired by the lions of China’s traditional lion-dance culture. The driver has a 12.3 inch digital display, which runs on an Qualcomm SA8155P Snapdragon SoC.

It supports OTA remote upgrades, another world's first on a motorbike. The 'cabin' is also equipped with heated handlebars, heated seats, and a sound system with two large speakers on each side of the instrument panel. The Souo motorcycles will be sold via the Tank dealer network. Tank is a cool off-road SUV brand under GWM.
